Safe and Sound

If you watch the news, you might already know that the Midwest has been hit with some pretty bad weather the last couple of weeks. Right now, Iowa has it worst with flooding, and my thoughts and prayers go out to those families who have lost their homes. Manhattan Kansas was hit with an F4 tornado last Wednesday night, there are about 50 homes that were completely destroyed, and another 100 severely damaged. Kansas State University estimates about $20 million worth of damage to campus buildings! Our home is about 7 blocks from the University, but thankfully, we had no damage to our house and most important, we are safe.

Summer Fun in the Sun!

It is officially Summer here in Kansas... we haven't hit the 100 degree mark yet, but it has been inching closer these last couple of weeks. The best way to beat the heat is BOATING! The Lundstroms are generous enough to let us tag along, thanks Joel, Kristen, Tyson, and Charlie!

Our gracious host Joel... Rocking the 80s look!

Umm... I think we need to go faster!

Maggie and Tyson tubing, and Kristen and Charlie Thomas (by the way, each time that Charlie has been out on the boat, he has napped the entire time), he is the best baby!

Jason's second time water-skiing and he is a pro already!

Good thing they both have life jackets on!

Interesting morning view

About two weeks ago Jason and I woke up to this in the backyard...

We both knew that branch was just hanging on, it was always creaking especially when the wind picked up. Luckily, the branch didn't fully break from the tree, it just cracked and was resting on the top of our fence. We probably would have had more damage if it had broken clean and fallen on the fence. We were more worried about my car, I usually park on the street right under the tree! Thankfully there was no damage to my vehicle, and even better, the maintenance and care of trees that are in the median area between the sidewalk and the street are the City's responsibility! They came out the same day and cut the branch and hauled away all the debris!
